Leader of the Dead Men of Dunharrow. The King of the Dead was once a living Man. He was then called the King of the Mountains and he was the ruler of the Men of the Mountains who dwelled in the White Mountains. They once worshipped Sauron, but after the realm of Gondor was founded in 3320 of the Second Age, the King of the Mountains swore allegiance to Isildur. At the Stone of Erech, the King vowed that he would lead his Men in battle against the forces of Sauron. But when they were summoned, the King and his Men broke their oath and refused to fight their former master. Isildur told the King of the Mountains that he would be the last king and he cursed the Oathbreakers, saying that they would never rest until their oath was fulfilled.
